My name is Denise Pimentel. I was born and raised in the New York State of Mind! I currently reside in the suburbs of New Jersey, but as they say, "You can take the girl out of New York, but you can't take the New York out of the girl."
I am educated, witty, and funny, and some may say my writing is unique. I love to write about theology, love, and the power of the mind and what it is like to lose it here and there. My favorite periods are Medieval and Renaissance times. Yes, I am one of those hopeless romantics. The art and philosophy of the times draw me in.
I have been writing for leisure since I was in Elementary school. I currently have an autobiographical blog; however, there are other completed works and works in progress I have written to share aside from my blog. I am working on three books. One is an autobiography, the other is a drama/mystery, and I recently started writing a devotional book.
Writing is my life. I write when I'm happy; I write when I'm sad; I write to get opinions; I write to inform; I even write when I jog, which is the time when words seem to flow quickly and easily. I spent six years at Kean University. The first four landed me my B.A. in Elementary Education/History, and the following years earned me an M.A. in Liberal Studies with a concentration in American Studies. My husband likes to tease me and say I ordered those pieces of paper on the internet, them being my diplomas. He's such a jokester. I completed my thesis about women who fought in the Vietnam War. Yes, they were there.
When I have some extra time, I love to create. Hence, there are many things for sale here. I was all set up to sell them at the Somerville street fair years ago, but then the pandemic hit, and the world went crazy, and the street fair was canceled.
I created all of the items here. I made homemade pillows of many different themes and immediately placed them in plastic protection to keep dust out. I created many hours of Pyrography from Basswood. I made fully wrapped Canvas prints from snapshots of my local photography taken when out exploring nature. I have many photos I have taken in print for sale if you do not want canvas for an excellent experience. I started a greeting card line with my business logo on the back that I have printed locally for me. All the items here are created with my ideas and pictures or sketches and sold individually or in sets.
